1.Out of all my projects during this semester in Art 2, my VW BUS drawing was the most successful. The VW BUS came out the best looking and most appealing. The theme of this project was to use repetition with a 1-point drawing of VW bus's into the distance. One of the best ideas that came to me as I was creating this project was using a background of black and white, then having color for the focal point of the drawing. The colors used for the VW bus's had lots of layers put on, to bring the best colors out of the drawing. Then I added shade in the background to make it look like I used a wide variety of techniques. I decided to add color because I like having color in my drawings and contrasting the different colors. I also decided to fold the corners to add a little personality to the final. This was my first projects but came out very good cause I hade wide variety of paths to take and I was really limited.
2. Out of all my projects, my least successful and favorite was the peppermint drawing because I didn't like trying to draw the candy. I was least successful in this project because my pastel drawing is not very strong. I also had some trouble with this drawing because someone else sabotaged the first one. When my first try was destroyed I felt like just getting it in before it was due so I rushed it. I would have rather used pastels for landscapes or a different object. I should have also used just basic colors instead of trying to be fancy. I think just using red and white would have come out better. If I did this project over again I would defiantly use different colors and prevent the final from being wrecked.
3.Overall during this semester I have chosen my best art pieces. I chose my VW bus drawing and my jeep collage/painting. I chose these two projects because they illustrate how I have grown. In the VW Bus project you can see how my shading has gotten better and my drawing with point of view went up. Then in my Jeep collage painting, the quality went up. In the Jeep collage you can see how all my skills come together with the technique of layering and acrylic painting. In the jeep collage I struggle at first but I found the right material and pieced the project together in a excellent manner so that it would all come together. The elements used in both of these defiantly made the final project 10X better.
4. The best mini lessons for this semester were the close up painting and shading shapes. This instructional lessons helped in every aspects of my art and I could use these techniques in all my projects. The close up painting was very detailed oriented and helped me slow down as an artist and work more precise. Then in the Shading shapes drawing this helped me be better with my lighting and shading, which helps with almost all art pieces. I think the instruction given to us was very helpful and didn't stop after the lesson because i would ask for pointers to help me shade or color better. If I could do more shapes, these projects would be a lot more fun. Overall these two projects have impacted me huge and should be continued to be taught because they will help entirely in all of your art pieces.
5. Out of all the mediums I used this semester, my favorite was the colored pencils. I enjoyed working with the colored pencils because you could layer and many different effects. I had the most success using the colored pencils and they gave me no problems. I think learning with the basic is best because trying to use higher level materials requires prior education on lower level projects. I think the best was when we got to use the special colored pencils because they cause a really nice effect in creating a focal point. If there is other techniques with colored pencils i would like to learn them and get better with them. I also know now that the more expensive colored pencils make a huge difference. overall sticking with the basics can still be fun as long as your creative.
