This project is all about combining Nature, with the mechanical objects in this world. I chose to use a scorpion mixed with mechanical because of the body parts on the scorpion resemble parts of mechanical objects. I started this project looking at all the different ideas i could use to make this scorpion be mechanical but still resemble a scorpion. I decided to make the claws into scissor hands, the stinger tail into a crane wrecking ball, and the inside parts into gear and other mechanical devices. I chose to use green paper because it compliments the red and orange of the scorpion but also the silver metal colors.
As i finished up the scorpion, i started to try and figure out different backgrounds, i could use. I decided to go with a sand dune background, with dark lines in the sand from the wind, and i think i captured the sand pretty well, but the colors were too close to the scorpions so it took away from the piece. Another problem that occurred during this piece was the bottom of my piece and gotten wet and when i was laying down a thick layer of prisma, i rip a 1 inch hole in the project.

This is my final for the Nature VS. Mechanical. I had some problems with it, but this project really helped me grow using prisma color pencils. Some Pro's, i learned to layer prisma's, i chose the right construction color paper, and it turned out better than any of my others pieces. I can really see myself growing as a artist comparing this piece to my others. I have learned to not use similar background color to feature and to not have water around your art unless its for watercolor painting.
